Daniel Kelty
Queer Life Coach
About Daniel
Hi, I’m Daniel — a queer dad, Navy veteran, licensed social worker, and now a life coach helping LGBTQ+ people navigate one of the hardest things many of us face: family rejection.
I’ve worked in mental health for over 25 years and ran my own private therapy practice for the last decade. I became a licensed independent social worker in 2014. Over the years, I’ve sat with people in their deepest pain — and I’ve lived through plenty of my own. I know what it’s like to be gay in a world that doesn’t always make space for you — growing up in conservative Ohio, surviving military life under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and finally, choosing to walk away from a family that refused to accept me.
I’ve been estranged from my biological family for more than ten years. That choice wasn’t easy — but it was necessary. And it led me to something even more powerful than acceptance: peace. Wholeness. A life I actually want to live.
Now, I help other gay and queer men who are facing those same impossible choices. If you’re struggling with a non-supportive family — whether you’re still trying to make it work or thinking about walking away — I want you to know that you’re not alone. And there is a path forward that leads to freedom, clarity, and real joy.
I bring warmth, compassion, and a casual, Bohemian sensibility to this work. I believe healing doesn’t have to look clinical — it can be creative, grounded, and deeply human.
I also recently published my first book — a memoir about my life, my trauma, and what it took to finally live authentically.
